Drama CD “Tsuyu is Here!” – Track 1 (12:10)
*Tsuyu (梅雨) refers to Japan’s rainy season, which occurs during June~July in most regions of Japan. Tsuyu can literally means “Plum rain”, as Japanese plums (梅/ume) ripen during this season as well.
Since Tsuyu Asui and “Tsuyu” (the rainy season) share the same name, it leads to quite a few misunderstandings within the drama CD.
—
0:00 – IntroductionTsuyu Asui: My name is Asui Tsuyu.
Tsuyu Asui: Two months have passed since I entered UA High School, the gateway to success for my dream of becoming a pro hero.
Tsuyu Asui: Which means it’s currently June.
Tsuyu Asui: This time, we’ll reveal a silly part of our school life during a certain day afterschool in June.
Izuku Midoriya: My Hero Academia Drama CD, “Tsuyu is Here!”
0:37 – Classroom (Afterschool)
Ochako Uraraka: Deku-kun, this rain isn’t letting up.
Ochako Uraraka: It’s been raining since yesterday…
Ochako Uraraka: and the sky is dull and gloomy.
Izuku Midoriya: I think this rain will go on for a while, Uraraka-san.
Izuku Midoriya: Yesterday’s forecast said we were entering the rainy season.
Ochako Uraraka: So that’s it, the rainy season, huh.
Tsuyu Asui: Midoriya-chan, Ochako-chan, do you need something from me?
Izuku Midoriya: Asui-san!?
Tsuyu Asui: Call me Tsuyu-chan.
Izuku Midoriya: Eh, ah you’ve got it wrong,
Izuku Midoriya: We weren’t talking about you earlier, Asui-sa… No! I mean Tsuyu-chan.
Izuku Midoriya: We were just talking about “Tsuyu”, June’s rainy season.
Ochako Uraraka: Right, right.
Tsuyu Asui: So that’s what it was, I love June’s rainy season.
Ochako Uraraka: Huh~, really?
Ochako Uraraka: I can’t deal with this damp and humid weather.
Ochako Uraraka: My hair gets all big and frizzy.
Tsuyu Asui: Do you hate Tsuyu, Ochako-chan?
Ochako Uraraka: Huh?
Tsuyu Asui: Do you hate… Tsuyu?
Ochako Uraraka: W-Well, it’s better than arid weather, since my skin gets really dry.
Tsuyu Asui: I see, that’s great.
1:45 –
Izuku Midoriya: (Uraraka-san is intimidated!?)
Ochako Uraraka: Hey, why do you like the rainy season, Tsuyu-chan?
Ochako Uraraka: Is it because it’s the same as your name?
Tsuyu Asui: Now that I think, I wonder why…
Tsuyu Asui: I’ve never given it much thought.
Izuku Midoriya: I’m sure it’s because of Asui-sa… Tsuyu-chan’s Quirk.
Izuku Midoriya: Frog’s fundamentally have cutaneous respiration, so when their skin is wet, it’s easier to breathe. They’re also more energetic apparently.
Ochako Uraraka: Heh~ really!?
Tsuyu Asui: You know a lot, Midoriya-chan.
2:15 –
Izuku Midoriya: N-No, I just remembered something I read in a picture book when I was younger.
Ochako Uraraka: If Tsuyu-chan liking rain is an effect of her Quirk, then are you not good with cold weather during winter?
Tsuyu Asui: Let’s see, I don’t do anything like hibernate, but I end up sleeping longer than usual.
Tsuyu Asui: Getting up in the morning is a bit difficult as well.
Ochako Uraraka: It sure is, a warm bed on a winter morning is too tempting to resist.
Ochako Uraraka: Don’t you feel the same way, Deku-kun? If you’re carless, you end up falling asleep again!
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah, that happens!
2:47 –
Izuku Midoriya: (Oohh~)
Izuku Midoriya: (I’m having a trivial conversation with girls after school.)
Izuku Midoriya: (What a normal school lifestyle!)
Izuku Midoriya: (Don’t think, just feel it, Izuku Midoriya!)
Izuku Midorita: (This is… Because of this it’s… A high school life!)
Tsuyu Asui: Ochako-chan… Why is Midoriya-chan tossing his fist up, while trembling as if he’s excited?
Ochako Uraraka: I don’t get it either, but Deku-kun get’s like this occasionally.
Tsuyu Asui: I don’t understand why, but I’m glad he’s enjoying himself.
Ochako Uraraka: I feel the same way.
3:28 – Classroom door opens
Tenya Iida: Hm? Midoriya-kun, Uraraka-kun, as well as Asui-kun?
Tenya Iida: You were all still in the classroom. Our lesson today has concluded. You should hurry home.
Izuku Midoriya: Ah, Sorry Iida-kun, we’ll leave soon.
Ochako Uraraka: Why are you still at school, Iida-kun?
Tenya Iida: That should be obvious, as a U.A. class-rep, I’m obligated to make sure all my classmates head home.
Izuku Midoriya: (There was a rule like that!? Thank goodness I didn’t take the class-rep job.)
Tenya Iida: I gave myself this duty to fulfill the job of class-rep that Midoriya entrusted me with!
Izuku Midoriya: (He’s doing it because he wants to!? That’s not an obligation.)
4:07 –
Tenya Iida: There’s another reason I’m still at school.
Tenya Iida: Yesterdays announcement of the rainy season. According to the forecast, we’ll experience intermittent rain.
Tenya Iida: If the precipitation increases, the mountainous regions ground could soften, resulting in landslide disasters.
Tenya Iida: Urban areas close by have a possibility of flooding due to rainwater as well.
Tenya Iida: If I’m at U.A., I’ll be able to obtain disastrous news as soon as possible.
Tenya Iida: When that time comes, I’ll demonstrate the rescue training I learned at USJ to…
4:34 –
Izuku Midoriya: Hold on, Iida-kun! Don’t tell me you plan on going to help?
Ochako Uraraka: Even though we’re aiming to become professionals, we’re still students.
Tsuyu Asui: Shouldn’t things like that be left to pro heroes that specialize in firefighting and disaster management?
Tenya Iida: I understand that, of course. However, even if I don’t have a role in it, as a U.A. Student aiming to become a pro hero, I want to always have the attitude of being ready to help.
Tenya Iida: So no matter the occasion, I’ll be able to assist others!
Izuku Midoriya: A-Amazing! You’re really cool, Iida-kun!
Ochako Uraraka: That’s the class-rep for you, I’m moved!
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah, he never forgets the position and readiness of a hero. I should learn from your example!
Tenya Iida: No, I didn’t say anything worth praise to that extent.
5:18 –
Tsuyu Asui: But, based on the amount of rain now, I doubt it’s likely that a disaster would occur.
Tsuyu Asui: If a disaster were to occur, the aggregate amount would need to be at least 100mm. It’s not likely if the rain is under 10cm.
Ochako Uraraka: Huh? Then, doesn’t that make what Iida-kun knows pointle…
Izuku Midoriya: Shhh~ Uraraka-san, you shouldn’t say anymore than tha…
Tenya Iida: Everyone, according to the forecast, this rain won’t let up anytime soon. You should hurry home before it gets dark.
Izuku Midoriya: (That’s Iida-kun for you, he’s not depressed at all. He’s intent on sticking to his word.)
Izuku Midoriya: Uraraka-san, Iida-kun is right, there’s no point in staying in the classroom. We should get goin…
Ochako Uraraka: That’s right, Deku-kun, want to head home together?
Izuku Midoriya: Huh!? Are you fine with that?
6:00 –
Ochako Uraraka: Is there something wrong with that?
Izuku Midoriya: That’s not what I meant…
Izuku Midoriya: (Until now, with Iida-kun included, the three of us have gone home together. But, is Uraraka fine with just the two of us heading home?)
Izuku Midoriya: (If someone saw us and started spreading rumors, it would cause her trouble.)
Izuku Midoriya: (No, don’t think so deeply about it. We’re simply heading home together. That’s right, I should just think of it like that!)
Ochako Uraraka: Tsuyu-chan! If you’re fine with it, do you want to head home with us?
Izuku Midoriya: (I already knew it! Feeling anxious was pointless)
6:30 –
Izuku Midoriya: That’s a great idea, we can leave with Asui-san.
Tsuyu Asui: …
Ochako Uraraka: You can’t do that, Deku-kun. You have to call her Tsuyu-chan.
Izuku Midoriya: Ah that’s right! Do you want to leave with us, Tsuyu-chan?
Tsuyu Asui: …
Ochako Uraraka: No response?
Izuku Midoriya: I wonder what’s wrong?
Tenya Iida: Asui-kun, the others are calling you.
Tsuyu Asui: …
Tenya Iida: Asui-kun! Say somthi…
Tsuyu Asui: *Ribbit*
Tsuyu Asui: *Ribbit, ribbit*
Ochako Uraraka: T-Tsuyu-chan is crying!?
Tenya Iida: What’s going on?
Tsuyu Asui: I’m sorry, I suddenly felt like crying. *Ribbit ribbit*
Ochako Uraraka: What do you mean?
Izuku Midoriya: Isn’t it because of that? When it begins raining, frogs start letting out cries.
Tenya Iida: A frog crying in the rain.
Tenya Iida: According to the theory, it’s said that a frog’s cry can indicate changes in atmospheric pressure.
Tsuyu Asui: It’s true that I felt a change in pressure, but this change is irregular.
7:23 –
Izuku Midoriya: A sudden change in atmospheric pressure. Putting this weather into consideration, a development of low air pressure could result in heavy rainfall.
Ochako Uraraka: Wouldn’t that be a guerrilla rainstorm?
Tenya Iida: This would be an emergency, then!
Izuku Midoriya: I’ll check my phone for weather information.
Izuku Midoriya: Iida-kun, just to be safe we should tell the teachers about this.
Tenya Iida: Right, I’ll head to the staff room.
Tanya Iida: Engine!
7:46
Ochako Uraraka: Deku-kun, how’s the weather?
Izuku Midoriya: Based on the information, there’s no change in the clouds.
Izuku Midoriya: There are no alarms or warnings either.
Tsuyu Asui: This is strange; the change in pressure is getting even larger. *Ribbit ribbit*
Ochako Uraraka: What does this mean, Deku-kun?
Izuku Midoriya: Even though Asui-san sensed a change in atmospheric pressure, the weather hasn’t changed.
Izuku Midoriya: That would mean the pressure change was due to something other than the weather.
Izuku Midoriya: The most logical explanation for that would be…
Tsuyu Asui: A quirk.
Izuku Midoriya: Yeah, I think there’s a possibility that someone is using a quirk capable of changing atmospheric pressure.
Izuku Midoriya: Someone among the students, or… A villain.
8:24 –
Ochako Uraraka: Villain!? Like friends of the ones that attacked USJ!?
Tsuyu Asui: But after that incident, U.A. defense systems were drastically improved.
Tsuyu Asui: Breaking in is unlikely.
Izuku Midoriya: Amongst the villains that attacked USJ, there was one who could utilize warp gates.
Izuku Midoriya: If he’s helping them…
Ochako Uraraka: T-This is bad.
Tsuyu Asui: *Ribbit*
Ochako Uraraka: Tsuyu-chan!?
Tsuyu Asui: *Ribbit ribibt*, the pressure is changing even more. Ribbit ribbit
Izuku Midoriya: Asui-san, can you tell where the change is taking place?
Tsuyu Asui: I sense it coming from above us. Ribbit ribbit
Izuku Midoriya: The sky!?
Tsuyu Asui: No, it’s even closer, Ribbit ribbit
Izuku Midoriya: Is someone using their quirk!?
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit ribbit, the change is growing even… larger. R-Ribbit!?
9:07 – Explosion
Ochako Uraraka: What!?
Izuku Midoriya: This sound and vibration!?
Tsuyu Asui: It’s an explosion!
Ochako Uraraka: It’s a villain attack, after all!?
Izuku Midoriya: You two should stay in the classroom, I’ll see what’s going on.
Ochako Uraraka: Deku-kun!?
Tsuyu Asui: It’s too dangerous to go by yourself.
Izuku Midoriya: There should still be teachers in the school, I’m just going to see what happened.
9:26 –
Tenya Iida: Midoriya-kun, Uraraka-kun!
Izuku Midoriya: I-Iida-kun!?
Ochako Uraraka: You scared me.
Tsuyu Asui: Class-rep, what was that explosion earlier?
Tenya Iida: I came here to relay that information.
Tenya Iida: It seems that the support students are testing support items on the roof.
Tenya Iida: A large-scale compressor backed up while in use, and got out of control.
Ochako Uraraka: Then, the explosion earlier was…
Tenya Iida: The large-scale compressor that went out of control exploded.
Tenya Iida: Fortunately, it seems that none of the students were hurt.
Ochako Uraraka: Ah, so that’s what happened. Thank goodness.
Izuku Midoriya: A large-scale compressor… I see, Asui-san let out a cry because she sensed the change in pressure from the compressor.
Tsuyu Asui: Suddenly crying because of the pressure change was due to the compressor going out of control.
Ochako Uraraka: I see, that makes sense. With this we’ve solved the mystery, right, Tsuyu-chan?
10:12 –
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit
Others: Huh?
Tsuyu Asui: Ribbit ribbit, rain is coming… and it’s a large amount.
Izuku Midoriya: A large amount of rain is coming?
Tenya Iida: What does that mean?
Ochako Uraraka: There’s no change in the weather, it’s just lightly raining.
Izuku Midoriya: So why?
10:30 – Sound of rushing water
Tenya Iida: huh? What’s this sound?
Ochako Uraraka: Isn’t it the sound of water flowing?
Izuku Midoriya: Iida-kun, you said the support students were working on the roof, right?
Tenya Iida: Y-Yes, that’s what I heard.
Izuku Midoriya: An explosion on the roof… the water storage tank up there must have gotten caught in the explosion!
Ochako Uraraka: Ehhh!?
Tsuyu Asui: This is bad
Tenya Iida: Not good, run for it!
Ochako Uraraka: Ah!? A large amount of rain is in the classroom!?
Izuku Midoriya: This isn’t rain!
Tenya Iida: It’s water!
Everyone: Ahhh!!
11:12 – Closing
Tsuyu Asui: Fortunately, we weren’t hurt, but because of the water that poured into the classroom, we all ended up soaked.
Tsuyu Asui: This was a silly part of our school life during a certain day afterschool in June.
Izuku Midoriya: Asui-san I don’t think you’d call that silly.
Tsuyu Asui: Call me Tsuyu-chan.
