Dragon Ball FighterZ’s GameInformer Interview Talks About Story Mode & Android 21
During the interview with GameInformer, Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s director, Junya Motomura, and its producer, Tomoko Hiroki reveal what we can expect from the game’s story mode. During the interview, we are given more details about Android 21 and how she is a key player for the story and how she will be involved with a very surprising aspect.
The game’s story will not only revolve about Goku and company but it will also involve the player themselves. Players will enter Goku’s mind and link with him and enter his friends’ minds to fight inside his friends’ minds. All of this links up to Android 21, though this isn’t caused by her power or any sort of magic but instead because of her presence as a scientist and a researcher involved with various technologies that are part of the story.
It’s mentioned that while the technology used to allow the player to get inside the mind’s of the many characters is related to the same technology Android 21 and Dr. Gero used to turn themselves into androids, they aren’t the same thing, but will be revealed as players play through the story.
It is also revealed that Story Mode will have three stories that will feature different characters. Hiroki elaborates more on “players linking with the character” feature and explains that as you defeat more enemies, your bond with Goku grows stronger which could lead to special conversations with him, in his mind, and the other characters.
Additionally, Motomura states that the Android saga and its mystery had a huge influence on the story. While not revealed, we will learn more about Android 21 while playing through the story and why the producers chose the character to he female. Hiroki confirmed that Android 21 is related to the Red Ribbon Army, thus indirectly related to Dr. Gero but a direct connection has not been confirmed.
