Arc System Works Presents Kill la Kill Game Trailer
During Anime Expo 2018, Arc System Works released a trailer for their upcoming title, Kill la Kill the Game: IF. The trailer reveals gameplay of a battle between Ryuko and Satsuki. We see Ryuko bouncing Satsuki off of the ground, Satsuki air-comboing Ryuko, and both characters clashing with each other. You can see these beautifully cel-shaded characters in action by watching the trailer below.
At the panel, Arc System Works, APLUS, and Studio Trigger were present to briefly discuss the game. Though the trailer only shows one-on-one combat, the panelists hinted at the possibility of different battle formats such as fighting hordes of enemies since this is present in the anime.
Kazuki Nakashima, the writer who handled Kill la Kill’s series composition, is also working on the story for the game. The “IF” in the game’s title means “alternate thread” or “cloth,” which ties into all of the clothing-related motifs that are present throughout the anime. However, Kill la Kill the Game: IF‘s story will be told from the perspective of Satsuki. Studio Trigger also asserts that the story is considered canon as if it were “another episode” of the anime.
The game will also be playable at EVO 2018 from August 3rd to August 5th. For more information, visit the official website.
Thank you to Gamespot for providing information beyond what the trailer reveals.
Kill la Kill the Game: IF will be released sometime in 2019 for PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam).
